The Champion

Trevor and I made the trek across the state to see Holly high jump in her JV Championship track meet.
It was a perfect day for a track meet...the sun was shining and the skinny, short-short wearing, long-distance running high school boys were out in full force.

We watched as Holly took off from her mark and flew over that bar, making it look so easy. Although, every time she was up I got super nervous. I tend to get that way...watching Gonzaga basketball or an intense movie, even just day to day things. My husband is constantly telling me to relax. But I am sure he loves it. Anyway...back to the jumper.
On her last jump, at a height no one else could make, she cleared that bar with perfection.
She bounded off the landing mat and ran to her adoring fans.

The Champion.
We are very proud of you, Holly.
So is the Starbucks barista and few other random people we told on our way home.

The Best Part of Waking Up

For the past 4 weeks, the husband and I have been trying something new. It begins with Michael Buble waking me up at 4:55 am, rolling my limp body out of bed, and telling myself, "I think I can, I think I can...". Once I make it to the bathroom, I pry open my eye lids and shove my contacts in. The meaning of this insanity you ask...to head on over to our friendly neighborhood YMCA.

Working out in the morning has many benefits, but my favorite is the extra time Trevor and I get to spend together before work. We run on our treadmills...side by side...my ipod playing Lady GaGa and his playing something much more mature like U2. Hey, whatever gets me movin'!

I have never considered myself a morning person...and by that I mean I am not a very nice person in the morning (ask anyone who has ever lived with me) but I am starting to really enjoy the mornings. It is amazing what you can accomplish before the sun comes up.
